7 Science-Backed Ways to Reduce Anxiety Now
It’s hard to get my brain around the fact that 40 million Americans suffer from anxiety-related disorders. Then again, we see it every day: in our clients, our family, maybe even in ourselves. The good news is that research has shown several ways of reducing anxiety to help us to enjoy life to the fullest.
Meditation leads the way:
“Research shows you only need 10-15 minutes of meditation per day to get the health benefits, which includes reducing stress hormone levels, increasing serotonin, and strengthening your ability to let go of thoughts that don’t serve you. Download a meditation app like Calm or Headspace to get started.”
This article also lists several other ways to reduce anxiety, some that make sense and some that make you think for a moment. Like forest bathing (which is popular in Japan), getting good sleep (still working on that one), check email less (uh oh), journaling (I know it helps, but sometimes, I get so busy), chewing gum (really?), and laughing (my fave).
